コロナ禍をきっかけに地方に移住する人が増えているようですね。
「予約のとれない伝説の家政婦」として有名なタサン志麻さんも今年の春に田舎に移住したそうです。
移住…なかなか勇気がいりそうですね。「私はやっぱり都会が好き！」という方も多いようですが。
A: Did you hear the news？ Jim has decided to move to Okinawa.
B: Wow! Okinawa is so far from Tokyo. What is he going to do there?
A: He wants to be a farmer. Isn't it a big change? Now he works for a computer company.
B: Well, it must be good for him in the long run.
コンピューター関係の仕事を辞めて沖縄に移住を決めた Jim。農家になるつもりのようです。
"a big change" まさに大決断ですね。Bさんは「長い目で見れは良いことだよ」と言っています。
"in the long run" は「長い目でみれば」という意味です。
移住も、何か新しいチャレンジも、「長い目で見れば」良かったな、ということになるのでは？
